Maybe living her own romance story is what inspired Jody to write romance novels, because it was never her dream to become a writer. Jody left a job opportunity in a different state because she met a man, and fell in love. Engaged after three months and married a year later, Jody and her husband have now been married for twenty-five years. Both raised in Minnesota, they stayed and are raising their children close to their families.
After having a four-year post-vasectomy baby, Jody has come to realize that things happen for reason. When she had to quit her job of over ten years to become a stay-at-home mom, Jody started writing. Having that surprise child ended up being an easier transition because she was a stay-at-home mom. Jody lives by the belief, “We may not understand why something happens, but the higher power does. And he has plans for us that we don’t know about.”
Reading has always been one of the things Jody loves to do in her downtime. In her youth, Jody enjoyed reading V.C. Andrews' the Dollanganger series (starting with Flowers in the Attic), S.E. Hinton, and Stephen King to name a few. As an adult, her list of authors and choice in genres have broadened. Nora Roberts is her favorite romance author.
Jody and her real-life law enforcement hero have been lucky enough to travel to the Bahamas and Florida, and drive through many states on their way to Quantico, Virginia. They took their three children on a Disney cruise to the Bahamas. She has also visited Montana and Cancun, Mexico. All of these experiences have inspired her stories.
